Renewing and Rejuvenating Ayurvedic Traditions for Spring

Spring is a time of renewal and rejuvenation in the natural world. People also use this time for renewal – spring cleaning, vacations, planting flowers, etc. It’s also a great time to rejuvenate our bodies, inside and out. Ayurvedic medicine uses several plants to help us. Read more about four of these herbs and plants and how they can help us feel renewed.

Amalaki

Amalaki is also known as amla or Indian gooseberry. The whole plant – fruit, leaves, and seeds — is used in traditional Indian medicine, but in other parts of the world one can usually only find supplements made from powdered dried fruit or fruit extract. Due to its high vitamin C content, it’s known as an anti-aging supplement for skin, hair, and eyes. High in antioxidants, it is also used for : Improving heart health, Normalizing blood fat levels, Reducing blood pressure.

Aloe Vera’s

Aloe vera is a succulent plant species of the genus Aloe. It is widely distributed, and is considered an invasive species in many world regions. An evergreen perennial, it originates from the Arabian Peninsula, but grows wild in tropical, semi-tropical, and arid climates around the world. Aloe Vera’s low toxicity makes it safe and gentle to ingest. It also includes vitamin C and complex carbohydrates. Uses include : Heartburn relief, Mouthwash, Blood sugar reducer.

Guduchi

Guduchi, also known as Giloy, is often taken for general wellness and to treat a plethora of conditions. While all parts of the plant are used, the stem is the most beneficial. The word “guduchi” means “something that protects the whole body.” Used to treat : Fever, Urinary problems, Asthma, Dysentery, Skin infections.
